Fabbing IC end tanks, how thick?
I need to make a custom one due to some space constraints.... vertical flow core, 18" long, 3" wide, end tanks will be kind of pancaked (1.5" tank for 2" inlet, 2" tank for 2.5" outlet w/ extensions hanging off the side of the tank so that the full diameter of the pipe is somewhat utilized....
Trying to order some stock to make the end tanks now, how thick is normal? .100 or .125? thicker?
Also how much of a PITA are these things to usually weld to the core? I'm not able to do it myself (don't know how to TIG), but I'd like to make all the parts and then take it to someone who can, just trying to figure out how selective I have to be. Should I just take it to a performance shop to be sure it gets done right and pay through the nose for the welding?
Is anyone here want to take up a little afternoon project for beer money?
Thanks for the help

Re: (9295EJ-t)
send it to me...I'll do it for ya.
I would allow more room for flow on the end of the tanks...and not squish them as you've shown in your drawing.
1/8" thickness max... i've seen ic tanks made from some pretty thin stuff before. I typically do 1/8" because its what i have lying around.

1/8 max and no less than 1/8.... sounds like 1/8 is the way to go then
And the goofy end tanks are because the IC can be no more than 9.5" top to bottom. I think I'm going to ditch the angles and just go with square tanks.
