When I do, I usually do the largest magnaflow muffler for a resonator, along with the tail section muffler. I did a ek civic one that sounded really good, deep and relatively quiet. I'll try to post pics.

I ask because I had looked into doing a similar setup about a year ago.

I thought the Al would be less "tinny" sounding than Ti due to being a less resonant material.

what do you pack your mufflers with? I got the special muffler packing stainless steel wool, I think it was from steel wool direct, it doesnt have any oil in the steel wool, it's the same stuff Borla uses

Hard to say, I'm gonna agree with you that it might not sound as tinny. But only thing is that it is waaaaayyyyy softer. I could imagine one wrong run in with something laying in the road and it will be coming in for a replacement piece.

h2.4, you make a good point and it would be a no-no material for the Stanced set. I am in the just below OEM ride height contingent so I fear no speebumps haha.

Friend bought an EP3 type R and it came fitted with this masterpiece:

1.75" tubing, so just under half the size of the factory system!
Built this to replace it:

lol. Actually I made those because I get paranoid about jack stands when Im laying under the car. This made the jack stands I had come in handy for holding up the exhaust while fitting it up though.

If you're welding stainless with fluxcore it's going to just rust out as it's not 'stainless' anymore.

You'll need tri mix gas and .024 stainless wire. (argon/co2/helium)

Anything else that is normal gas shielded (non stainless) you can use 75/25 argon/co2

If that weld you did is on mild steel, hit it with a grinder, paint it, good to go.

How does the inside of your weld look though? Can you see it or no?

Yeah if you grind the weld down you will see any inclusions (holes, slag debris, unfilled gaps etc) and that gives you an idea what how you are doing..plus, it's just looks nicer if you knock it all down flat and you'll either see just the butt weld or nothing at all..

Also hitting that area with a flap disk/wire wheel/grinding wheel would get rid of those dingleberries (spatter outside of that weld) that you get with FCAW.

Keep in mind you can't weld with gas on flux core. it won't work.
