Default Argon gas analyzer!

Guys and Ladies,

I need help ASAP due to the fact the my tungsten gets black with this new argon gas that I bought.

I increased the flow at 25 litres per minute and still is black and also the tip gets round.

And I think that this guy who sells me the gas is tricking me.......I think he is not selling the 99.99 % argon gas .....I think he is selling me, at the same price, lower grade argon.

Please help me with this matter because here argon is kinda expensive (about 100 USD per bottle)

Thanks!

Have you consistently had this problem, or just with this bottle? Was this after the switch to a new supplier? Give us some more details.

myself and a local fabricator have gotten bad batches of Argon before, our supplier just exchages it for a new one so long as we didn't use too much of the contaminated bottle. they then just settle it with Air Gas

Yep, contaminated bottles are not unheard of. Take it back to your supplier and tell him whats up.

This is the supplier where I regularly buy Argon.

This is the 1'st from about 20 bottles with which I had problems.

I went to him....but he told me that it's impossible ......this can't be:

**** him ....I need some sort of argon gas analyzer to test it.....and then I'll go and beat him up))))))))))

Sounds like a simple contaminated bottle. Request he swap the bottle, you're the customer in this situation and he should be trying to take care of you. Tell him you want to swap it to eliminate that variable.

Argon analyzers aren't going to be able to give you a purity, at least nothing you're going to be able to afford.

I work in a lab and we have tested a few bottle of argon through the years. It wouldn't surprise me if they have some air in the bottle. We had 1000 parts of oxygen in a few of our nitrogen bottles, we had to pay for zero grade to get less than 10 ppm.

We have even had a bottle of helium that was filled with nitrogen here that took out 4 gas chromatographs.
