Default 998+whp BMW Intercooler

i think i need a camera upgrade....

previous intercooler

we are redoing the charge pipes next. i had very limited time to do the IC, we next day aired the core $$. other than dyno stuff, this was the first work i have done on the car. next we are making a new air intake for the turbo, a new 4" downpipe, and a 5" aluminum exhaust. whoever made the current exhaust made it 1 piece from the turbo to the ail pipe, out of thick wall stainless. talk about a heavy pain in the ***!

24x12x4.5 core

car keeps breaking driveline parts before it can max out the set up on the dyno. made 998 on the old set up, after the intercooler upgrade it was up on power and down big time on air temp....but the diff. exploded at 900.

truthfully if this thing had a stock intake manifold on it, you would not be able to tell there is a turbo on it. i think i took one pic. let me see if i can find it.

you can not see the turbo from the top of the engine bay, or from under the car lol looks like a blast to work on! pretty sure you gotta pull the motor to get to the turbo.

yea this is the only one i have

Check the body sheet metal where the rear subframe mounts to the pickup points, these tear out on the e36 chassis cars and cause all sorts of driveline issues, even on stock cars.

I believe someone (Motorsport?) makes weld-in reinforcement plates that help prevent that from happening and repairs torn unibodies. Also make sure this guy has the plates that reinforce the subframe itself.

The ones I weld in come from BMW. Decent plates. I'll see if I can locate some pics of the last job I did, I think the owner took some.

I've also had this problem, had to make my own plates though, didn't know BMW did them, or maybe UK BMW don't.
