I have an S80 ITR hydro trans with:

Synchrotech Carbon master rebuild kit
Mfactory helical LSD
Competition Clutch stage 4
New shift linkages from Honda with energy suspension bushing
Honda trans fluid

In an EG civic with a LS/Vtec.

My problem is that the car will not go into 1st, 2nd, or 4th gear if the car has been in 5th gear. I can go up or down between 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th all day long without issue, with the car stopped or moving. As soon as I go to 5th gear I have to put the gear selector in 3rd gear while keeping the clutch to the floor then I can go to 1st through 4th.

I cannot physically move the gear selector to where 1st and 2nd are while this happens either. I can move it to where 4th is and it doesn't grind or anything, but I can't put it in 4th gear.

Going up in gears is fine, acts like a not-broken transmission. No gear pop outs or grinds.

I had the transmission built by a local shop long enough ago that it is no longer covered by their warranty. It was sitting in my house in plastic until a couple weeks ago when I finally finished the build. I'm assuming that they either did something incorrectly or there is something that was not included with the master rebuild kit that is broken. Any ideas?

Also, it may do the same thing with Reverse as it does with 5th, I'll have to double check today and I'll let you know.

Fixed it, it was the shift change holder assembly. I ended up going with the speed factory one instead of OEM as it is much more robust.
