Manual transmission fluid change question
Hey everyone! This is my first post on here but I have a 1995 Honda Accord Ex. I think you'd all be proud I actually did my very first oil and transmission change by myself at home from just watching online videos and looking up threads from this forum. Anyway I drained out my transmission fluid completely and after fighting with the fill bolt for about 3 hours got it off with a 17mm socket wrench with a 6 star socket and lots of wd-40 and muscle haha. I successfully filled the transmission back up with 1 bottle of Lucas leak stop transmission fluid about .7qts and also 2 qts of 75w140 gear lube. Anyway as you can tell I placed way to much fluid inside my transmission because I was waiting for it to leak out and apparently you have to pull the hose out to see if it will spew out fluid or not. Long story short a ton of fluid came pouring back out of the fill hole since I put about 1qt too much inside. My question is can more then just the excess fluid pour out of the fill hole or did all the fluids I poured in drain back out through the fill hole? The fluids pouring out were red like the Lucas stop leak and I was just wondering if only some of it came out or if it just poured out all of it even though I filled it with the stop leak first then the gear oil second. So basically is my transmission fine because it shifts a lot better and seems fine or did I accidentally fill it too much and cause the fill hole to spew out more fluid then necessary?

wtf, there is a separate drain from the fill and why in the hell are you using 75w140. and the trans should hold 3qts. what hose did you pull off .

Re: Manual transmission fluid change question
If the chassis is level, it'll naturally drain to the specified level. A little extra wont hurt.
Fluid capacity of a b-series transmission is 2.3 qts.
A 17mm box wrench and 2lb sledgehammer is the easiest way to break the full bolt loose.
