Default LSD Selection

I know your thinking not another one of these threads.

However some of the research I have done has shown reviews of a couple years old so trying to get more current information.

Currently in the market for a LSD for my turbo integra build. Looking to be making over 400whp.

1. MFactory - been told this is the best option.
2. OBX - have recent models improved? Buy a hardware upgrade kit for it?
3. Quaife
4. OEM

Not sure if anyone else has any other recommendations?

Thanks!!

What type of driving are you doing?? Take OBX right off the list, they are subpar quality no matter how you slice it.

The oem type r diff is fine for 90% of people even at that power level. I am under the assumption this is primarily a street car with occasional drag use.

You are correct. Essentially a street car not sure if I will make it to the strip or not.

I am using a LS tranny thou - didn't think a type r LSD could transfer because of the diff size.

It looks like I would need the FD ring and counter shaft from a GSR/B16 for a FD of 4.4 for it to work.

I am currently leaning towards a MFactory currently. I guess I gotta pay to play.

I recently bought the OBX ( I returned it due to obvious flaws) and a mfactory. Having held both in my hands the mfactory is the way to go

MFactory LSDs are apparently supplied to Honda as OEM equipment according to the MFactory site.

Quality and performance wise, MFactory, Quaife & Wavetrac would be my choice. I went for the MFactory.

Below that level is OEM ( great quality but doesn't perform as well as the Big 3) and below that again is OBX.

Congrats for not considering Phantom Grip.

Looks like I'm ordering a MFactory setup. It's the last thing to do before the engine gets out back in. Just wrapping up all new wheel hubs, calipers, rotors, and pads.

For the people that purchased a MFactory setup recently where did you order from?

Cheapest place I'm finding it shipped it EBay - $699.95

Let me know!

MFactory doesn't supply Honda for their production cars, they supply them for their race cars and programs.

Take OBX off the list.

I'm not a big fan of Wavetrac, they wear extremely quickly.

It should also be noted that OEM LSD's are getting to the point where they are becoming worn out and no longer functioning. The newest OEM LSD is 17 years old (not including those that came from Acura parts departments via the LSD itself or a complete transmission).

All MFactory parts can be ordered directly from Whoopee Doo Racing. PM, email, or call me to order.

PM'd you. Thanks for pointing that out about factory LSD's. You make a good point about them being at the earliest 17 years old.

Some are still fine while others aren't, it depends on how much track use and aggressive street driving the LSD has seen. It's an issue that started popping up a couple of years ago.
