LS Diff grinding on VSS gear
I recently pulled the tranny out of my Integra LS for a Diff bearing. Got the bearing on, feels smooth, but now the speedo gear is grinding on the VSS gear. I only know that's the case because when I remove the VSS Sensor itself and put a screwdriver in it to relieve the pressure as it spins, it stops growling.
It also only does it when spinning the diff "forward" (as the wheels would roll) and not backward. Sounds normal when spinning backwards (Reverse).
There's no shim in the space for the diff bearing on the VSS side (Bellhousing, I suppose), but there IS a shim on the gear side (Passenger side). Do I need to be shimming the bottom as well? There wasn't one (tmk) when I removed the diff, a couple weeks ago. I even looked around the garage for one, just to make sure I wasn't an idiot. Okay, I still am, but no shim, idiot or not.
Anyone else seen it? On the advice of some h-t threads, I used the screwdriver trick to pull the old bearing. Maybe there are some tiny little burrs on the speedo gear? Idk.
Any help appreciated.

Re: LS Diff grinding on VSS gear
Looks like I can answer my own question: The speedo gears aren't meshing like they should. Removed VSS, no noise. Reinstall, noise.
Don't pull your diff bearings out with the screwdriver trick. :/ In other news, I'm gonna try to file it down and save the ring. I'll post back.
