Hi all.

I am looking for some advice on how to tackle this ongoing problem that my car seems to have. To get to the point my civic leaks oil from the transmission on the driver side axle. What I noticed is that it will only leak when the wheels spin at high speeds. What i have done to try and fix the problem was other then replace the transmission because the old one crapped out on me was replace the transmission of course. I got my tranny from a local shop called synchrotech when i reported the problem of the leaking oil they offered to have it inspected and found no issues with it - they even removed the old seals and replaced them with new ones (great service).

I decided to replace my axles and i also found 2 bad mounts that I replaced, the mount that hold the motor and tranny in place and the one that is for the tranny.

Once I put the car back together i tested the car and it continuous to leak oil. I cant figure out why - I dont believe i am using too much oil because the fill hole doesnt allow you to overfill - I am ready to drench my car is gasoline and throw a match on it and walk away.

Hi Noel,

We also replaced the differential and installed new diff bearings when we inspected and resealed the transmission (just to be on the safe side). Are you sure the leak is comming from the axle seal? Maybe there is something else leaking and running down on the transmission??

If you can't find anything else that could be the source of the leak, let me know and we will give you a replacement transmission to try.

a late update, but better late then never. I would like to thank synchrotech for helping me out with my problem. I discovered that the axle that was sold to me was for an automatic transmission, so with this said - let it be laid to rest that automatic axle and manual axles are not the same. The automatic axle did click into place and lock and allowed the wheel to move but it did not seat flush and caused the oil leak.
