F23A1 Flywheel question (replacing with Fidanza 8.5lb)
Hello fellw H-T members!
I have a few questions regarding the f23a1 engine (4cyl Accord 98 to 02)
first; is the original flywheel a single mass or dual mass flywheel?
second;
Is the original flywheel internally balanced or externally balanced? I need to know if i will need to get my new flywheel balanced (taken from the Fidanza instructions);
Also, they mention;
wich grade of loctite should i use? Green, blue, red?
Thank you very much for your imput!

How do you tell the difference between external and internally balanced motors?
On internally balanced engines, there is no counterweight on the damper. The damper is completely neutral (zero) balanced. An externally balanced engine will have an obvious counterweight on the backside of the damper and the flywheel.

Since this is a CNC machined aluminium flywheel it is very close to the correct balance, but you should always check the balance with your clutch pressure plate and your particular engine - especially if it is an external balance configuration
Also, they mention;
"Apply a small amount or loctite to the OD (outside diameter)of your pilot bearing when installing it in your new flywheel"
Thank you very much for your imput!

Re: F23A1 Flywheel question (replacing with Fidanza 8.5lb)
our flywheels come internally balanced. you're fine to put the clutch and flywheel on and go. if both are new no need to have either balanced.
there is a small amount of loctite that comes with the flywheel, its enough to do your flywheel bolts.
and input is spelt with an N
