crv wont go into gear...help!
okay ill try to make this as detail and short as i can....
i have a 99 crv rtawd 5speed... my problem is i cant shift into gear when the car is on...
I can turn on the car but it wont let me go into gear, and if i put it into to gear when the car is off and then turn it on the car stalls out.... I noticed the trans getting a lil hard to shift and it would hesitate to take off in 1st gear a day before, so i checked the clutch fluid and it was real low lol... i went ahead and filled it up... the following day it still had the same problem... and after pumping gas i was taking off and the clutch felt like it disengaged (even though i never lost pressure at the pedal) this stalled the car, and from then on it wouldnt go into gear... I went ahead and changed the clutch master and slave cylinder out, even though i figured that wouldnt be the problem but the clutch master cyl had started leaking a lil from the back and the fluid was dirty.... anyways i havent messed with it since, is it my clutch? throw out bearing? or something els?? either way ill be taking out the trans this weekend...

how low did the fluid get?
might need to bleed the clutch?
Have someone press your clutch and then you get under the hood and see if the clutch arm is moving.

as said before check the clutch fluid, it may be low due to a leak in the system. if you fill it and it leaks out quickly then you will need to find the problem. if it is not low or does not leak out quickly and the problem persists it may be due to a blown clutch. sometimes when they go parts get in the way and make it impossible to fully disengage the clutch.

well ive changed the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder already... and filled it up, bled it at what not.... so that's not the problem... ive been thinking its the clutch, but i wanted to see if it could be anything else before i pulled the tranny.... Im gonna go ahead and do it this weekend and see for sure...

Re: crv wont go into gear...help!
they guy i bought my CRV from said he has had to replace the master cylinder 4 times since he bought it (also a 99') mine has a new clutch and slave cylinder now, but its way outta adjustment. if i press the pedal all the way down it wont let it go into gear. but if i barely press it, it'll go right in. might be way out of adjustment since the new master cylinder was installed like mine.
