I just cant seem to get my clutch cable release point right. BTW I have a rebuilt b17 tranny, brand new factory clutch cable, new throw out bearing, new spring for the release fork, a stock clutch in good condition with about 10,000 miles on it. The pressure plate came with the clutch and appeared to be fine. Keep in mind that I know the condition of these parts because I just did a itr swap about 2 months ago and I inspected/replaced these parts.

Everything was good after the swap until last week. I noticed it was getting hard to put in gear with the car running. If I turned the car off, it went in gear no problem. So I started adjusting the cable because it felt a little loose and it was releasing off of the floor. After adjusting it a few times and testing it, I pushed the pedal in and it felt like something broke loose. It sent the pedal to the floor. I was able to adjust the cable and get it working again but now its not working quite right...

I know the basic concept behind adjusting the pedal. The looser the adjustment nut, the more towards the floor the release point is. The tighter it is, the higher the release point. Well Ive pretty much got all of the free play out of the release arm and it still releases more towards the floor. It feels like there is some binding going on too, almost like the pedal drags off of the floor. It causes a grind in 3rd gear at mid-high rpms too which I think is because the release arm isn't fully pulled up by the cable.

I don't want to keep tightening it because Im pretty sure the throwout bearing will be riding on the pressure plate. Does this sound like a problem with the pressure plate? Thanks a bunch
