Default Can shift gears at a stop with out pressing the clutch & car does not move.

I own a 2001 s2000. And I noticed it getting hard to shift so I checked the clutch fluid and it was low. I put some clutch fluid in that has already been open ( I know not that good but it was what I had). When I put it in I put in too much not knowing. I pumped the clutch with out the cap on like 10 times. When I went to put the cap on I noticed it was over filled. I took out enough to be at the max line. I then pushed the clutch petal down and put it in gear and let go and the car did not move. I tried other gears still nothing. I then tried shifting with out using the clutch petal and I could easy with no grinding at all.

What do you think could be the problem? Sorry it is kinda long but I wanted to give as many details as I could about the problem.

Any help would be great. I was thinking that the slave cylinder may of been stuck fully depressed and is not letting the clutch go. But I couldn't find that every happing to anyone else.

this thread scares me. please stop and find someone that knows what they are doing. once they show you how to fix it, you will then know how to deal with it any time it comes up again.

i have a 93 accord that is doing the same thing, can anyone confirm that bleeding the clutch is the way to go? because i was told this problem sounded more like a pressure plate issue?

How low was the clutch master cylinder reservoir?
What fluid did you put back in?
Bleed the clutch line.
Is there a leak inside from the clutch master cylinder or outside at the slave cylinder for the reservoir to be low?

Get under the car (do this safely with jack stands or a lift), and have someone use the clutch pedal. Watch to see the travel of the slave cylinder. You have the eyes in this situation. Not us through a computer screen.

Could be either. Could be issues with the master or slave cylinders. If the clutch master cylinder's reservoir isn't low on fluid then most likely it's fine and you most likely won't have air in the line. To check the line, have someone press and hold the clutch, and loosen the 8mm bleeder bolt on the clutch slave cylinder on the front of the transmission. If it comes out in a constant stream of DOT4 brake fluid with no air bubbles, you're probably fine in that respect and the problem lies deeper.

But it's something simple and cheap to check before you go pulling the trans out to replace a clutch.
