All the sudden wont go in 3rd gear
Hey guys I got a 99 civic si Canadian jdm swap b16 LSD trans integra shifter linkage
So today I pulled out of my driveway went thru 1st and 2nd gear and when I go to put it in 3rd it just won't go in
I have never had a problem with the gears b4 this never had a grind even at high rpm
All the sudden it won't go in 3rd gear even with the car off it feels like hitting a wall when I put it in third gear
Any suggestion would be appreciated

Re: All the sudden wont go in 3rd gear
If you can get into 1 and 2, the throw is correct on the shifter, if you cannot get into 3 you have something out of position in that gear, and those things are many. Start with these:
1: Interference in the shifter (exhaust hits it. etc)
2: Defective shift piece internal to the transmission.
It may be going into gear, but the teeth are missing. (hardly possible without you knowing)
If the transmission was serviced before, it may have been incorrectly assembled. There are simply too many what-ifs, and not enough information from you.

Re: All the sudden wont go in 3rd gear
Thanks for advice it will be till Monday till I can put it on a hoist
The thing is 1st n 2nd are ok 4th is ok 5th feels weird and third feels like the shifter is not traveling far enough to go in gear
With the car off I put it in third start the car clutch in as soon as I let the clutch go it grinds
One thing though the shifter feels like it's out of place
I'll check my exhaust clearance come Monday

I've seen quite a few of these problems due to the rods hitting off stuff and being blocked. If not then I second mista or the shift mechanism/fork could be messed up. Either way you'll have to tear it down.

Re: All the sudden wont go in 3rd gear
You can, without question, have a 3rd or 4th gear issue with the fork and 1/2 and 5/R be perfectly fine. 3rd /4th is isolated to its own fork. That's not be the case in all transmissions, but it is in nearly all FWD manual transmissions. Given the information provided, I don't believe your issue is a fork issue. But just wanted to clarify in case anyone reading this thinks the quoted portion is gospel.

You need an input shaft and the countershaft gears to go with it, along with the bearing and seal. Inspect and replace parts as required.

Re: All the sudden wont go in 3rd gear
After opening my tranny case found out why I couldn't get into third gear fist there was no magnet inside the casing, second my 3rd gear synchros was ok just wouldn't engage due to a price of shrapnel blocking the synchros, so I replaced the worn 2nd gear synchro sleeve set from my old s4c, also used s4c final drive cause my s80 had a chip on 1 of the gears, reassembled the s80 trans installed 2 magnets and all good to go
Thanks for the help guys it's always good to have a spare trans kicking around for parts, once the my parts are in from back order ill rebuild my spare sc4 trans
