3-4th grind? :S
hey HT the last few months I've run into what seems to be a minor problem, but it can obviously get worse..
I've got a B18 tranny with a B18C motor, she bites hard and is very smooth, EXCEPT from 3rd to 4th at high RPM. :S
It's also smooth from 5th to 4th, but at low RPM 3rd to 4th shift fine. All other shifts from every other gear high or low rpm shifts like butter..
IDK what the issue is, I'm not the type that can take my stuff apart and fix it myself so I'm SOL for that.. Could it be the syncro on 3rd/4th is worn out?
again when i get this fixed is it worth fixing the syncro and mesh or should i just pickup a new tranny in general? I have been wanting one with ls for a while as well.
thoughts please?

it is pretty obious the sincro is not letting it shift in one direction it wont be too far down the road and it will quit working altogether and may cause even more damage?

syncros go bad but the actual grinding is the sleeve teeth grinding with the dog teeth on the gear....take it apart and see how worn down the sleeve teeth are and probably the dog teeth are starting to wear also. if you fix it now you may be able to to just replace the sleeve syncro and spring. if not you will probably end up replacing the gear also and its gona get even more expensive....i would fix it or just buy a good tranny from hmo that will tell you the actual milage and not a estimated milage.
