i have a 2002 ep3 5-speed that makes a chirping sound im pretty sure its coming from the trany. it only makes the sound when its at low rpm's and goes away when driving or press on the gas. its does not matter if you put the clutch in or out it will still make the same sound.

does anyone have any ideas on what this could be i dont think its the throw out bearing not sure if it could be the pilot bearing or not. any feed back would be very helpful thanks

remove the bolts holding the slave cylinder to the block .. add grease to the ball piece on the end .. put it back

Let us know if the sound goes away.

lol it literally takes less than 10 minutes to do .. it takes you longer to think up a post here than to actually try it

Since you're too lazy to do that, try this instead. Get a bottle of silicone spray and spray into that slave cylinder ball piece area while the car is idling and it's chirping like a bird. If the sound goes away, I'm confident you won't be so lazy to try it anymore.

so i did what you said to the slave and nothing changed im kinda thinking the sound is coming from inside the trans. when im under the car and put my ear up to it that's where it sounds like its coming from. im thinking im just going to have to pull the transmission because i cant see where else it would be coming from. any other ideas?

yeah that sound, i cant find it but im pretty sure its coming from the transmission. it does not matter if i put the clutch in or not it will still make the same sound thats why i dont think its the TOB not sure about the pilot bearing. and i dont think its the belts

Sounds like a serpentine belt is loose .. but it doesnt sound tranny related

ill check the belt again what should i use to check it. i herd you can use dish soap to check if its a belt,is that wright?

Grab the longest side of each belt in the middle of the length and spin it with your thumb and index finger. It should only turn 90 degrees.
