hi guys.

i have a strange sound after my b16a2 swap into eg4.

when te car is in neutral and i rev the engine or cruising everthing is normal.

when i go full thortle i hear a sound like you stick a paper against a fan.
when i stepp of the gas the sound is gone

i thought it was a exhaust leak but i changed all gaskets en installed a new header and replaced the testpipe for a de-cat.
the sound only changed a little..

the sound goes with the rpm.
sounds a little like air sucked in.
comes from the front of the car.
mates says i comes from driver side ,i think is more from the middle of the bay.
The engine didnt make this sound in the donor car

whats done

Timing belt replaced.
valves lashes done
(first time im doing this,engine runs smooth en noticed gain after valve lashes)
engine idle perfect.
intake gasket replaced
cleaned intake from inside
new one way valve intake.
new clutch.
evap delete.
new 02 sensor.
new blox velocity stack filter.
new fuel filter.
new spark plugs
Ignition timing is ok
belt timing is ok
vacuum line checked
02 test where perfect even without original catalyst.

malfunctions
-cil 2 (from belt side) old d15b2 spark plug cable
-1 bolt from header to head keeps spinning and is a little loose,but isnt leaking there.
-fuel pump sometimes noisy on startup
-cant get the pcv valve hose stick info the intake manifolde

what can it be ?
spark plug cable?
valves lash not done right?
noisy blox filter?
cams rubbing against cover onder full load?
noisy tensioner?

It is entirely possible that your valve lash adjustment was improper, but it sounds like the problem started when you swapped the engine. I would not be so quick to assume that the exhaust isn't leaking at that stripped bolt. Go get a heli-coil kit, fix the stripped stud, and retorque the header, see if the noise persists.

i also think its a exhaust leak.
i doesnt sound like metal, more like air rushing in or out the engine.

when i started with hondas i had a coupe witch sounded a bit like this.
that turned out like to be a exhaust leak in the back!

i changed the gasket for a multilayerd gasket but that didnt helpt much.

this weekend ill replaced the d serie spark plug cable for a b serie cable.

and check the ignition timing and the valve lashes

and im thinking of welding the srs midpipe together at the rear

and afcourse i gonne make the treaths with helicoils

hi guys

i fixed al the problems only the leaking under full load is stil there.

i know now thats its the donut gasket.
i replaced it with 3 diferent gaskets.
and used rtv copper silicone
and have use the spring bolts and normal bolts both wont work.

at first use when replacing the gasket its good but afther 2 or 3 pulls the sound is back.

i checked my engine mounts but there isnt a problemen (i have al 5 mounts)
and de exhaust flanges are clean (no rust )

the exhaust is hanging under stress in the rear..could this cuss this the gasket not to flex as good as it should?

i cant get the midpipe higher because it wil hit the shift linkage.

i had al the problems eliminated
but the sound is stil there.

exhaust is 100÷ good

header bolt threath repared with helicoils.

valve lashes done twice.

the sound is coming from between the upperside of the valve cover and intake.

or maybe my tegiwa toda v2 make the valvetrain sound load??

could it be noisy injectors?
the have 300.000 kms on them.

also i hears a guy say to check the oil pan gasket????that coulnd be it i think???


i hope somebody can help me with this noise.
the sound keep stressing me.

yess im sure it isnt pinging or knocking.

i tested my injectors today but they are okay.

i saw a little grease comming out of my passanger axel,maybe they tick but i doubt that.

it sounds like a exhaust/vacuum leak or exhaust gas traveling thru the tubes.
