Weird noise coming after car is turned off.
I need some help. As the title says, a weird noise occurs right after the car is turned off. It sounds like air is escaping but i dont know what it could be. I did a search and i found this.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=611114
The link says it could be timing belt/alternator belt, etc. Then again it sounds like a different problem cause mine isn't a squeak. It happened before I did the maintanence (timing belt, alternator belt, power steering belt, and water pump) and still does occur now, after. Any ideas? I checked the engine, looked at all the vacuum lines, couldn't figure it out. It consistently occurs no matter how I drive the car before turning it off.
Before I forget so I dont get bombarded with replies about what engine it is. It's a b18c.
Thanks in advance for help.

In the engine compartment? I don't see how it can be any kind of drive belt, since that stuff quits turning as soon as the engine stops.
When you turn off, the only thing I can think of is a vacuum leak in one of the systems that normally holds vacuum with engine off.
- brake vacuum booster
- IAB vacuum reservoir
- vacuum behind dashboard that works ventilation dampers & stuff?

I know my PCV valve made a noise when I shut my B16A off. It drove me nuts to I figured out it was that. I replaced it with a new OEM one and it still did the same thing. Still not sure if it was supposed to do that or not.

This is what I was thinking. If it sounds like a hissing/air sound, it could very well be the intake. Completely normal.

Okay cool. I'll check vacuum lines again, but I'm going to have my friend turn off the car and I'm going to try to pinpoint where it's coming from. If it is intake then no worries.
Thanks for the help

I have a 2000 civic si and it is currently doing this and has been since I bought it ? It used to drive me crazy and I couldnt for the life of me figure it out but I kept hearing it come from the driverside rear and came to the conclusion it was just the gastank purging gasses and it was basically a hiss sound but I could be wrong?
