didn't really read the thread, but can't you just take out the steering shaft joint under the dash, and line up the rack and wheels, then the wheel? I'd think that would take care of it...

I haven't taken out the dash completely nor have I tried another column. But did you see my update and the picture of the 2 screws that need to move over?
Also if anyone can check their car and see where thos two screws are in the white metal holes.
What's the point of responding if you're not gonna read? You're trying to guess?

ok so started looking at these pics a little more and i got to thinking, can you take those two studs that are pointed down and going through those slots on the bottom plate and thought if that is tack welded on you could grind or hack saw the tacks off and then put a nut on the very end so you can tap on it with a hammer and take them out with out damaging the threads.
and then after you remove them, re drill the top mount so that the studs are over to the right side of the slots. i would also think about re drilling it strait over to the right and not on the other end of the slot. as in drill through the top mount and bottom (silver) plate. then after you re-drill the holes you could drop the studs through there and then re-install the column. if you have access to a welder maybe re-tack the studs in place again. you might not need to re-weld it but it would help. also if you do decide to re-weld the studs, make sure you use a welding blanket. the slag will melt right through ****! i melted holes in my rear hatch window when welding my spoiler holes.

I believe that would be the easy way out (eventhough it's not that easy) rather than taking the dash off and figuring out why and or how to move the whole bracket over.

so man if the column mount is over to the left than the car was in an accident of the factory ****ed it up. start looking to see if you can do my idea and thats all i can tell you. its hard to give you advice since im not there to see exactly what is going on with it. if i was there im sure i could tell you exactly what you need to do. sorry. good luck tho.
