Icon2 State referee ticket question (SO-CA)?

Got pulled over this last Friday for having HID's. He used that to pull me over then poped my hood and be cited me for modified exhaust(ES Tuning muffler w/ cat) and for VC 27156(B) "missing smog device, officer wrote". The first two are collectible violations last one gotta go to Referee. I've heard that filling out a bill of sale and showing judge that I'm going to sell. I can get it waved and just never turn in bill of sell to DMV. Anyone done this before? Second option would just be pleading guilty and paying fine. Anyone know how much it would be? First traffic ticket if that even matters. Thanks in advance for advice....

i believe you will have to smog the car and show proof to the judge. i tried this when i got my ref ticket, sold the car to my brother but the judge only waved my mod exhaust ticket and i still had to pay the mod emissions fine.

since the cop wrote you down for "missing smog device" and if you show proof that your car does in fact pass, he/she will prob wave it.

No you still would have to pay for the ticket with a bill of sale or even if you sold the car. You have to find out what smog device your missing, you should have a little time before you have to see the judge within that time make sure your car is ready for the referee if all is good you could leave there with your ticket written off and not a laundry list of what you need to do to your car to make it legal.

Got 3 infractions:
1. Headlights being to white (6k HID's)
2. Modified exhaust (ES Tuning muffler w/ cat)
3. Missing smog device
...can't get the first two signed off either because officer put big white sticker where sign offs go that says "State referee required - NO officer sign off"

your going to the ref. cause you got a ticket for modified emissions and that is a flat fine of about $365 if i remember.

i went thru the same deal, got pulled over for my exhaust being too loud, pop my hood, took pictures, handed me a ticket for modified exhaust and modified emissions and told me to park my car until i go to the ref.

i tried the whole selling the car to someone etc.. and the judge only dismissed the modified exhaust but not the modified emissions. i ended up paying the fine and took my 9months and 5 trys to pass the ref with my jdm gsr swap 98 civic hatch. now im done and legal and no cops has harassed me since

What year car, what year engine, what ecu you're using? Start there so we can figure out what emissions parts should be on the engine and what sensors you need to have. Some parts are different and some sensors are in different places depending on obd.

Who said anything about going to stock? I know what I need for that. Lol just seeing if the whole "selling the car" story works and how much fines are.

When you go to the referee what ever engine your car has in it has to be the same as if it was in the original car the engine came in (exception would be for carb legal parts). You're going to have to pay the fine unless you can prove ur car has no "missing smog device" so it has to have the stock-like components to pass visual and it also have to pass a smog test. I'm just trying to help you not make multiple trips to the ref. Once you pass the referee test that's your proof you take to the judge so you don't have to pay the fine. Believe me I've been through it!

Hey bro i have a question. I got stopped and cops made me pop up my hood to check if i had illegal headers and air intake. He checked that out and they were both legal but then he seen i had a b20 on a 95 civic so he got me for that and sent me to the state referee. Is there anything i can do? I dont have no papers or anything that says i can have that engine in my car. Or can i just say i bought the car like that and say i dont know nothing about cars?
If you can plz help me out with anything i can do.. Ill appreciate it

Just go state ref it. B20 in a civic is fine as long as you put all the emissions equipment for an OBD1 LS motor. The more stock the better, but if you have carb legal parts for an OBD1 Integra you'll still be fine.

Its a fixit ticket. You either have to get it bar'ed and pay the $25 fixit ticket fine or pay the full fine fee.

If you got a b20a vtec, which never actually came in a car, you wont be able to bar it.

Wrong. The B20 is considered a truck motor and is not legal in any way shape or form in a Civic....

theres more to that. usdm b20 cannot be bard in a car. jdm b20b is a Japanese replacement for 1.8 b18b. if your b20 is jdm replacement engine your should be fine. just go to the ref.
if your car has b20z or b20b4 etc etc. then your fuked.
