I have a weird issue happening on my EM1.The car will turn over fine and the starter isn't sticking.The issue I am having is when you turn the key to the on position the starter engages and doesnt stop until you turn the key back off.I have a full Rywire harness in the car so I really doubt its a wiring issue.I will be contacting him on Monday to check.Any ideas?

Have you tried testing the starter signal wire with it disconnected from the starter? See if 12V remains after the key returns from the start to the run position.

Has the clutch switch been bypassed? Can you start the car without pushing in the clutch?

It could be a bad clutch switch, starter cut relay or ignition switch.

I've seen a shotgun pattern's worth of issues with ignition switches. While I have not experienced your issue exactly (actually it is usually the complete opposite, you have to hold the key between RUN II and START III just for it to run).

Given your information, I would start with removing the ignition switch and inspecting the pads internal to the switch. I have seen a few switches that are loaded up with anti-sieze and other materials to correct a failure to crank. How they don't catch fire...... I have no F***ing clue.

Constant 12v at the starter wire when the key is turned to the on position.I checked everything else and it is all working the way its supposed to the weird thing is when I remove the starter relay it still cranks when turned to the on position.

Are you sure it was the starter cut relay you removed and not the horn relay? Starter cut is blk/wht, blk/wht, blk/red and blu/blk.

If it was the starter relay you removed and you still engaged the starter with the key there's a chance the wiring before the relay has been tampered with.

Does the car have a remote start or did it at one time that you know of?
It's common for the clutch switch or starter relay to be bypassed so the remote start can engage the starter on manual transmissions.

It did have a remote start but that is all gone and it previously worked just fine.The ignition switch harness was a bit hacked up because of the alarm install so I replaced it with a new unit from the dealer a long time ago.The relay that was removed was the starter relay.The car is turning over in the on position before you even try to start it normally.

I have been looking at the schematics or wiring diagrams for the car and this is not my area of expertise to say the least.I can't figure out how the starter still gets power with the relay removed?

If you have the correct relay removed and the starter is still engaging with the key in the on position something is up after/downstream of the relay.

I'm suspecting your engine harness. Doubting it's a wiring issue because you have a Rywwire harness is naive.

The starter itself is independant of the ecu but part of the engine harness, tied to the main relay and ecu. Try disconnecting the ecu, with the starter cut relay in place and try to start like normal.

Does the starter still engage in the on posistion?

Still started with the ecu unplugged.i disconnected the big grey plug thats near the tack signal open connector on the shock tower.When I disconnect that plug the car doesnt turn over but as soon as I plug in that connector there isnt any way of stopping it from cranking when turned to the on position.

Sounds like you need to send back that rywire harness and ask for a refund.
