I've Searched and Searched and the answer has never been answered!! Need some Guru help on this one, For everyone that's having this problem.

SRS light flashing is indicating a problem/code with the airbag/srs system. You will need the Helm to further diagnose the problem. Did you remove the airbag or anything?

Default Re: SRS LIGHT FLASHES CONSTANTLY WHEN CHECKING FOR CODES!! (Hybrid96EK)

found this:

Jdmlyfstyle,
I liked your post.
However, I have some additional points.
I have a 94 Honda Civic DX Coupe, and have just recently replaced my ECM.
Looks like I didnt need to.
In my Car, the ECM test connectors are located as you said, in the passenger wheel well, in a 2 place "Green"holder to hold both test connectors.
One is a 3 Wire and the other a 2 wire.
My 2 wire connector is BROWN and one is Black, and the connectors themselves are blue, not grey.
There must have been a change made in 1994,(as well as 95) with the addition of the passenger side airbags in the wiring harness color of the wires and the connectors used.
They will of course work exactly the same, but, the colors are different than you mentioned.
Point also to note the reason I replaced my ECU in the first place.
When I used the 2 wire connector in the passenger wheel well (found this in my Haynes manual, and out of a FACTORY service manual) I jumped the wires and 2 things happen when I turn on the ignition switch (without starting the car).
1, the check engine light comes on and stays on.. There are NO flashes.
2, the SRS light flashes constantly.
Before I installed the new ECU I checked the SRS codes,(connector mounted on fuse panel) and there are no problems (codes), but it only flashes when I jump the connector to get the "ECU" codes!
So I did another test.. I pulled the Jumper wire, went under the hood and pulled my oxygen sensor connector. (mine is the heated 4 wire, but Im sure the single will do the same thing once it isnt grounded through the sensor anymore).
Got back in the car, started it up and a couple seconds later, I got a CHECK engine light that stayed on constantly.
Before, there was no light at all, so the computer tripped a code obviously.
So then, I installed the jumperwire again getting the SRS blinking constantly, and NOW I get flashes on my Check engine light!.. Code 41. (4 long, one short)
This proves that the computer is FINE when the check engine light stays illuminated when the connector is jumped, and apparently its normal for the SRS light to flash during testing. (shared signal?)
The manual I have says that a Code 0 (Zero) means the ECM is shot, but what it fails to mention is that ONLY if the check engine light doesnt LIGHT when the connector is jumped regardless of staying lit constantly!
Since the ECU has a test procedure during startup, the Check engine light comes on each time you go to start your car, so thats a way to verify if the dash light for it works and Im sure on rare instances, it would be wiring, a bad bulb(most likely scenario) or a totally fried ECU if it didnt.
I asked Honda about this stuff and they didnt have a clue.
So I had to do my own diagnostics to figure all this out.
Probably wanted the usual "stupid" customer to come in and spend $70.00 to find out there is nothing wrong!
I got a good ECU from Ebay, but had I realized this was unusual in its testing outputs (the light staying on, and the SRS flashing and the manual saying a code 0 means bad and that the system is likely using its backup parameters (limp home mode) Id never have bought another ECU since the replacement does exactly the same thing as my original.
93 was the first year of a Driver airbag, so im guessing something changed when the 94 came out and the Dual airbags were installed.
Not saying you are wrong here, but I had a different experience with the connectors and results.

I NEED MORE CLARIFICATION, PLEASE

I'm not really sure what you are asking anymore. You posted some blabbering post about something you "found"... What exactly is the issue and why haven't you answered my questions in my first response? You got plenty of time to bump this post 10x's a minute, but can't answer my first question..

Now again, have you removed or tampered with your SRS system in ANY way?

From the sound of it, you didn't reinstall the airbags correctly or have a bad connection/bad bag. I checked the Helm for you and the troubleshooting procedures are actually quite complex and it offers no insight on to how to interpret the codes. The only advice it has is that if the light goes off after approx 6 seconds upon initially powering up the car, the system is considered to be "ok". If your SRS light comes on and goes off in 6 seconds when you first start the car (Without the service check connector connected) then I would say you are in good shape. If you are still concerned about the flashing light, contact your local Honda service department and either ask them for assistance or schedule an appointment with them to have the system repair/evaluated. Moral of the story is to not mess with the airbags unless you know what you are doing.

The CEL shouldn't go out when you short the connector either. It sounds like you have something wrong in the main harness. Did you mess with the engine harness or cabin harness in any way?

Cabin harness was not touched, engine harness is vx harness and the only thing i did to it was the 5 wire to 4 wire o2 sensor. the airbags were put in the exact same way i took them out with no power to the car (please understand that my srs lght is not on at all when car is running) my check engine light is on, and when i go to check it for codes is when it goes off and the srs light blinks constantly.

That's why i posted that mumble jumble up top from that member cause their was alot of members that were going thru the same thing.....Wierd

When you jumper the SCS connector that triggers all the other computers to throw their codes too. So for now, ignore the SRS lamp flashing because it's probably a separate issue.

The fact that the CEL goes OUT is normally bad. That means your ECU is toast. But like I said in IM... I don't know whether HonData changes that particular behavior. Now that I posted it out here, maybe someone who knows Hondata can chime in.

If your SRS light isn't on while the car is running, don't worry about it.

I don't recall 100% but I'm pretty sure the SRS light blinks sometimes while you have the service connector jumped (to check codes) - just ignore it - as long as it's not throwing a light while it's on.

As far as the codes, what codes are you throwing (from the CEL).

EDIT:
Here's how to check your codes:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1901557

Just ignore the SRS light for now - as long as it's not on while the car's running I wouldn't worry about it worth of dick. Like I said, I recall it flashing while the 2p service connector is jumped sometimes. Though I don't remember specifically.

You are jumping the 2P connector though, and not the 3p one, right?

Yea it blinks constantly stopped counting at at 70+ something, but i think that's normal as everyone seems to think the same, plus it's not on while car is driving.

I used to have a 95 GSR, same OBD & probably similar SRS hardware & software. I jumpered the SCS connector many times for spark timing, CEL codes, etc. The SRS lamp never flashed.

I've had ABS lamp flashing along with CEL flashing, each flashing it's own code as if the other lamp didn't exist. So they're all triggered to flash their codes, together. But each system is separate.

AutoZone might not be able to help.

OBD-1 code reading is EXACTLY what you just did. Jumper the connector. Their code reader probably can't even plug into your car because your car doesn't have an OBD-2 data port.

I don't mean to give up, but I don't know anything about HonData.

i called hondata yesterday to get some info,I have hondata s300 p28 ecu and they walked me through to where i can read the check engine light:
i have a code 10 IAT: intake air temp.

Only problem is I have a hard time believing that cause those things barely go bad, then again i don't know if i hooked up the right 2 wire plug on it, or if it goes somewhere othe than the intake manifold on a vx.

Does anyone know the 2 color wires that go on the AIT on a 94 vx? does it go on the intake manifold or the cold air intake?

Btw i will be doing a write up on the 7 wire laf o2 sensor conversion to a 4 wire, so stay tuned for that as many people have wondered.. he he he

I go to check codes. I get S.R.S. codes. 92 &12 to my best judgement(the flash sequence is tricky for me)
any help anyone would be appreciated.
