Default sealant around butterfly on throttle body?

ok, if u look in a stock throttle body, there is some kind of black looking sealant that keeps air from going around the butterfly when it is closed(idle). does anyone know what this sealant stuff is, or what i could use?

Reason i need to know, i bored out my throttle body to 64.17 mm, and the butterfly i made is 63.99 mm. there is a little gap in there, and the car is idleing at like 1400rpm. i need to fix this asap, it is annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks

its oil and carbon build up... should be clean and shinny
you might try to find a lager throttle body to get a butterfly out of

dood there isnt anything like that in a normal factory throttle body..like the one guy said your gonna need a bigger butterfly to take up the space or else you can try monster garaging some kind of sealent in there..good luck

Yes. And if they were all used, then it is indeed carbon build up.

There is definately a rubber like coating on the throttle plates (at least on my GS-R). It is in a circle on the outer edge of the plate. It isn't oil. I have no clue what it is but it isn't necessary as plenty of throttle bodies don't have it. It seems like the correct solution would be to have the correct size throttle plate.

yes there is definitly some type of black sealent on factory honda throttle bodys, on the backside of the butterfly (manifold side) the b&m throttle bodys also have this. they recomend not taking it off because it will cause a leak. like the above post.

try some black silicone. and smear it on with a brush..move the butterfly a few times. to make sure it wont get hung up on there. it might work and than again. it might not.
