Review: Kumho Ecsta ASX all season
I sprung for these for my street wheels because I'm tired of having tires last 15kmi before having to be replaced. I use Falken Azenis for autocross or track use. Since these are all seasons, I was willing to sacrifice some wet and dry grip for longetivity. Here is my take on this tire:
Size: 205/40R17 Speed Rated: W (168 MPH)
These tires are just what I've been looking for! Compared to the Ecsta 712 which I've been using for the last two years, these seem a little more comfortable and a lot less noisy. Response is still very sharp due to the short sidewall ratio. I had to lock them down once to avoid a non-yielding left turner and they definitely locked up easier than what I'm used to driving to the limit: the Azenis. They have a small "rim protector" edge near the bead, but my rim is just a hair wider than the tread on the tire so it doesn't make much of a difference.
The price is not bad at $77ea, and Tires.com offers free shipping to top it off.
Verdict: For those of you who are looking for an all-season 17" tire, consider this one. Good price and a good tradeoff from grip to longetivity. I'm happy with them.
