Default Passing emission tricks

Washington emissions are ridiculous. I need to pass emissions in order to get my tabs renewed BUT I am nearly doubling the allowed numbers by the states standards...WITH A CAT! I have RC310's, and Tuner 2's that would be the only things really throwing me off, but the car is tuned to a "T" so at this point I'm looking for some tricks you guys may use. I was told adding a bottle of rubbing alcohol to 2 gallons of gas should clean it up OR using methyl hydrate with about 2-3 gallons of gas should get it to blow zeros. Anyone have experience with this? Last thing I want to do is have to pay a shop to look at my car for $150 so I can get new tabs. If anything this can become an informational thread for future reference since I looked and couldn't really find anything. **** all these tree huggers.

there are no tricks lmfao!

i love getting people like this in my shop and then failing them!

even if u unplug the ground cable on battery. ur resetting the readiness monitors. and when u get to the smog place if the monitors are not ready. it wont pass.

letting car get warm wont help a dead cat either.

seafoam might help. but not really

only real thing is. no CEL timing dead on ****. tune up and good known o2 and cat!

Cat is less than a year old (magnaflow extreme flow) I put it on cause it wouldn't pass last time. I have no CEL's, it was dyno tuned so timing is dead on. If the O2 was bad I would be getting a CEL. I'll beat the system, trust me. I don't need someone who works there telling me it can't be done...cause it can. And no offense, if you work at the one in Auburn, WA suck it.

Techron fuel cleaner and a bottle of ISO-HEET plus 1 gallon of gas might do the trick... its basically running on vodka then.

You can but you need some hydrogen gas to lower emissions by alot trust me **** will have emissions real low. Since you got it tuned that's what messed it up its probably getting more nox fumes from increased gas from the injectors. Hydrogen fuel cells is where it's at

Yeah that's what everyone assumes but it works i got one made saves gas and lowers emissions no lie. look it up on youtube don't be a skeptic it's true if you know about cars and how they should perform. That's how i made mine getting different ideas. And also alcohol can reduce emissions too. Why do you think people who run on alcohol get so much power from cause it burns more efficiently than gas. Thus giving you more torque/power and reducing blowby and detonation making the pistons work beautifully and cleaning the valves and pistons also.

Problem is I dont have an OEM cat handy, just a test pipe which will do nothing. This cat is like a 280 cell cat if remember correctly. It was reccomended by a reputable shop in my area. If the tune was shitty the car wouldn't run as well as it does. 5 hours on a dyno didn't net me a shitty tune when the whp went up with every pull...

How do they do testing there? Free rev engine or loaded on a dyno? You got a wideband to know what your afr is? If no, check this out http://www.smogsite.com/calculators.html#lambda it's pretty cool

Not saying the tune was shitty just saying adding 310cc injectors and tuning throws off the nox gases beacuase of tuning the fuel maps for more power.

2 bottles of iso heet in 1/4 tank of gas and retard timeing and warm car up the iso heet burns crazy hot and helps pass made massive diffrence to me or u can do is throw off the o2 reading by feeding oxygen gass after the cat to trick the emissions probe to think its lower because it reads how many parts oxygen to co that trick is if the cars realy ****ed lol did it once worked canada tho lol and u got to see how low the co was lmao it was funny as hell did it with a buddy to prove a point lol i think i still got the paper some place ill post it if i find it lol

The place I go to uses loaded mustang dynos. I'm actually probably going to sell the car once I get the tabs renewed but no one will buy a car w/o tabs and that wont pass emissions. Thanks for the link I'll check it out. I think Im going to try the iso-heet and techron and see where it goes.

They only test CO and HC (ppm) here in WA.

It would be "easy" if the amount they allowed wasn't so low. Here are my numbers for reference:
Cruise emissions (HC ppm): allowed-180 result-193 CO (%) allowed-1.3 result-2.89
Idle emissions (HC ppm): allowed- 220 result-344 CO(%) allowed-1.2 result-3.09

The first time I went I did pass cruise HC with 174, but the second time it went up. The rest are pretty consistent.

i used 1 large bottle of rubbing alcohol in less then 1/4 of tank fuel in my del sol 2 months ago in oregon emissions and it passed.

first attempt - fail
Got back in line and add the rubbing alcohol - passed within 5 minutes of each other.

93egSLEEPER - The rubbing alcohol will make you pass, i had more extreme emission results than you prior to the rubbing alcohol.

I am skeptical on using rubbing alcohol since it does contain water. Last thing I want is one of these dumb asses to detonate my motor doing emissions. Seriously the gy killed it 3 times the first time I went.

MD does emissions inspections every 2 years. not sure how other states are... but there aren't any tricks that I know of haha.

I never had a problem passing, but I heard seafoam may work if you are having trouble. A guy I work with told me he was borderline passing and seafoam got him into the passing range. or something of that sort...

timing being perfect according to your tuner is very different than what is needed to pass emissions. I am going to bet youa re running too rich and have too much timing advance.

As they don't check NOx just lean out the fuel map for the rpm and load points that they test. Or you can use a shot gun approach and lean out the entire map.

After the test, reinstall your tuned map.

Might be true where you are, but to clarify, not all of WA does emission testing.
