its a + for your cooling system. basically, it opens up at a lower temp than stock, thus cooling your engine before it gets really hot. i say its worth it.

How much do they want for it? If it's comparable in price to a stock replacement (which I doubt a mugen piece is), go for it. Otherwise, no I don't think it's worth it. It won't cool the engine any more than the stock piece.

edit- I should have read the original post to get the price.

a cooler engine will run better and give better performance. I'd say go for it! u could also try some Redline "Water wetter" for additional cooler temps, however for those who experiance the winter months...i would swap back to the stock thermostat

is it worth having it? is it worth the 50$ or what should i do?
in a word... NO. you can get a colder thermostat that has the same open temp as the Mugen thermostat for less than $20 at your local Pepboys or any other store. just ask for "Beck Arnley Worldparts" specifically, and tell them you want it 10 degrees colder than stock. stock is 180-185 degrees.

drift is right... you can get a 170degree t-stat from Pep Boys, NAPA...etc. 10degrees isn't worth $40 more, it won't make a difference, and will not hurt your car in any way. Try using the RedLine WaterWetter too... it knocked off an extra 4 degrees on my last car.

the only disadvantage to a cooler thermostat is if you are below 169 degrees... when the ecu see's this it puts you into whats called closed loop. in other words, it thinks the car still needs time to warm up causing more fuel to be dumped. this may sound good at first but its hard on the engine and the wallet, ( fuel in MI area is crazee)
