Default 12V Source for a boost gauge?

I searched but, couldn't understand. I'm installing a boost gauge into my Del Sol. And I need a switched 12V for the illumination of the guage. I know nothing about wiring.

Were would I find a switched 12V??

you could use them 5 empty slot under the big green plug....they are 12v too...you need a test light and try each one of them to see which one comes on when you turn your headlight on....thats where i hooked up all my guage to...

don't quote me, but the 5 empty slots are: first from the left is 12V all the time, and the middle one is 12V with lights on

Yes you can. I had three gauges all running from the same source in my last car, it worked fine.

Oh also. My OBD1 car was different from those diagrams. The best way is to just use a test light and test each one individually, instead of trusting one of those diagrams.

Thanks. would I need to put an inline fuse between the fuse box connector and the wires? what fuse would i use?

Also, what gauge wires would you guys recommend for autometer gauges? 18ga?
