how do you tell if a water pump is bad
i know when the seal goes it leaks out the weep hole,but is there another way you can tell if the shaft is broken or if im missing and impellor blade?any help will be appreciated.peace

Sometimes the bearings just start making noise even if they don't leak or wobble.
I had one where the bearings got loose. It made rattling noises as the impeller hit the housing. When I took off the belt it was so loose I could wobble the pulley back & forth.
I think a broken shaft wouldn't hold the pulley in place & you'd throw your timing belt. Also, it wouldn't move any coolant & you'd overheat. Loose pieces of the impeller might jam it up, then you'd throw your timing belt. If I had any possible reason to suspect this, I'd take off the timing belt & inspect the pump really good. Throwing a timing belt is never a good thing.

ok,cause i have been overheating pretty badly,and ive replaced coolant,thermostats,and a blown head gasket.but this is the last straw if it ain't this i am going to get another motor.

Yeah, 'cause if it was any of the other stuff like hoses, he'd probably have figured it out by now.
