How can I remove non broken exhaust manifold studs
I am replacing my header and downpipe tomorrow and I want to replace my studs also. I already broke the nuts loose and there are no broken studs. I have searched for articles on removing the studs but all I find is for broken ones. Also heard of the 2 nut on the stud method but not sure how it works. Thanks

you get two nuts, thread one on, thread the other on, tighten one against the other, and you have a bolt, this is basic mechanical stuff

+1 for Vice Grips. You are replacing the studs so you don't have to worry about screwing up the threads. Clamp the vice grip on and go to town screwing them out. The double nut methods works well too.

For the most stubborn studs, 2 nuts threaded/tightened together, with a closed end wrench on each nut, [close enough together to hold in one hand] tightening them, works on pretty much any stud.
Vice Grips are the first choice on broken/stripped studs if you do not have stud extractors. 94
