Honda Bond or tran lube
Passenger side Cam Seal is leaking on by GSR. I honda bonded the last blox cam seal but leaked a couple month after. I was told not to use honda bond and to lube the cam seal instead. Anyone have any expert opinions?

I have the skunk2 cam seal in my b16 head and have for 3 years with no leak. The key is to remove the cam cap and install the seal in to the head, then reinstall the cam cap and torque to factory spec. Now I have never just removed one cam cap I was always tearing the engine apart for something. so that choice will be left to you.

Why would anyone in their right mind ever use hondabond on a seal ? I'm assuming you're using it on the outside lip, which in itself is really horrible.
If you're using it on the inner lip then I really gotta say youre an idiot, no offense.
The proper way to install any seal is to simply lube up with any grease the inner lip of the seal and install it flush with whatever it mates against on its outside edge.
The end.

Thank you for a real response, I will repair and report results. As for those of you who cannot resist blasting someone for asking a simple technical question, please grow up. I probable have been working on cars and equipment twice as long as you have been alive, all I wanted was a no bullsh-- answer using the proper methods. I have limited experience with my beloved crx and was trying to learn something. If you cannot understand a learning curve, obviously, you have much to learn in life. Sorry if I offended someone.

Re: Honda Bond or tran lube
Dave, most people are unaware that honda updated the design of the cam seal. It now uses an o-ring and snaps into place. The old ones had no o-ring and required the installer to remove the cam cap to replace them. Big pain in the *** and they always leaked. The new ones are the way to go. Just put a little oil on the o-ring before you snap it in so it doesn't roll over. I've replaced more than I care to count and have not had an issue with the new design ones leaking. They're also really cheap. Like $7 compared to the $30 some of these aftermarket companies want for a billet seal with three o-rings or some **** like that. Complete overkill for the purpose it serves.

So no honda bond and lube the three O rings. Would it be a good Idea to Hbond the cam cap where it's metal to metal?

Or you guys can actually call them what they are and that is a CAM PLUG.
If you call them a CAM SEAL people like me might actually have the audacity to think you're talking about a CAM SEAL. I know, I know, the nerve of me think you're talking about something you yourself clearly said but meant something totally different.

Re: Honda Bond or tran lube
okay, okay, I work or have worked on so many types of engines over many years depending on what engine, this cap, plug , seal can and will refer to the undriven side of the cam. However on strange engines like DFV/DFL/DFX cosworth stuff the only distinction being driven or non driven end as to what the offending part may be called. Sorry for not making a proper reference as to which end we were referring to. I fully understood which end was the leaking part as this was my specific issue. Have a good evening.

Re: Honda Bond or tran lube
No honda bond on the o-rings, but lube them with oil so they don't roll and pinch. Put a little bit of honda bond on the corners of the cam cap where it mates to the head. I don't like the billet cam seals with multiple o-rings. The ones that are properly made are overkill and a waste of money. The ones that are cheaply made have improperly sized o-rings and don't fit as they should. In my opinion, you would be much better off going down to your local honda dealer and spending $7 on an updated cam seal.
