Default Help pls - JDM B18C - Smoking, Losing oil from valve cover breather and dipstick tube

Hi guys, i was hoping someone could please give me some advice.

I hope I have given you all the information you need to answer the question

First off. The car runs very well, it seems to have maintained the proper power level and everything so I assume nothing drastic has gone wrong inside the engine. (fingers crossed)

Engine - JDM GSR/SIR 1.8 B18C P72. Stock internals, no mods except filter and exhaust system. Stock ECU.

- Problem -

My engine is going through a lot of oil, can't give you an exact measurement but its my DD and I need to top up the oil every morning.

- Symptoms -

- I have a small breather filter on the valve cover (air filter breather hole on pipe blocked with a bolt), and today I noticed it the mini filter was full of oil and had some leaking out on the injector/manifold area below.

- The whole of the dipstick tube, down to the base is covered with oil.

- No oil leaks seem to be coming from anywhere else on the engine.

***There is never a puddle of oil under my car in the morning***

Considering the amount of oil i am loosing, and the amount I can find outside of the engine where it should not be, I assume most is being lost by being burnt in the combustion chambers.

*The car smokes 'a lot' in VTEC*

A friend following me the other day told me that as soon as I hit VTEC, there was "a lot" of smoke, BLACK smoke...
Now, I did not see it, so I do not know if it was black or blue, and really how much he considered to be "a lot". (he is no professional)

The car does not smoke on start up, it does not seem to have any smoke out of the exhaust (white, black, or blue) in normal driving.

*Compression Test*

I had a compression test done a few days ago at my mechanics and the results were 195 to 200 around all 4 cylinders.

After the test was done, I asked my mechanic if it could be something to do with my PCV system.
He told me that because I have the mini breather filter, and the car is N/A, it cannot be that.
He said if this was happening in a turbo application, then yes maybe that could be it, but because I am N/A, no.

He said it must be my piston rings and/or oil control rings.

So my question is....

What do you guys think??

The mechanic is right? It cannot be the PVC, it must be the rings?

I want as many experienced opinions as possible before I open my engine and spend loads of money.

Thanks to all in advance, I really appreciate any input
