flat tow vs. dolly tow
there doesnt seem to be much information on flat towing with a vehicle but TONS flat towing or dolly towing with an rv. I want to pull a car with a crossover rated at pulling 3500lbs. The car i am towing will be around the 3300 mark. Right now I am thinking of flat towing since trying to tow a dolly on top of the car will be VERY close to maxing out the vehicle. But on the other hand i hear its easier to pull a vehicle with a dolly and it can be done faster as well. I already have a curt tow bar but now i am hearing other things from other people to dolly instead of 4 wheels down. So really i would like to get opinions from your guys.
also if anyone can find a diy or something that shows the best way to hook up a universal tow bar to a vehicle that would be awesome. the instructions that come with tow bar i have are horrible. thank you everyone!

Re: flat tow vs. dolly tow
I have used a town dolly many times. It was straightforward and easy. The tow dolly is light enough to move it by hand. I would borrow a stronger vehicle and use a tow dolly. I would be more concerned about stopping. I towed a light 1989 Subaru xt6 with a 1 ton Chevy van with a tow dolly. It was very easy. I also did it with a 1993 Accord. It was much more difficult to get up hills and much harder to stop. Both where about 25 mile trips. I also used a flat tow bed with a uhaul truck. The doors on the tow vehicle could not be opened. I had to climb through the windows. And the car had to be driven up on the long bed. I would prefer a tow dolly. Its faster and lighter.
