Default CRX with B18A1 running super rich

My LS powered '91 CRX SI is running really rich, getting 100 miles to the tank, and fouling plugs. I checked the ECU for codes (Integra ECU) and it showed 5 (MAP) and 17 (VSS), I bought a new OEM Bosch O2 sensor and an adjustable FPR (B&M) but am thinking it's a sensor problem. When you first start the car it idle's pretty rough and lumpy and then smooths out after a minute or two in conjuction with the "Check Engine" light coming on. The plugs fouled out last night (Denso) and now it's not running at all, i'm guessing that the MAP sensor is causing the problem being that it threw the code, any suggestions on how to proceed???

Did you use the control valves from the integra motor? I have a 90 hf that I put a b18a1 in, and was running pretty rich. When I replaced the hf control box with the integra box, things got better (after setting idle speed and other things...). One thing that I have noticed is that I still seem to run a tad bit rich myself.

FYI. The control box has 3 components in it. MAPS sensor, EVAP Purge control solinoid & Fuel pressure regulator solinoid. Another possiblility is that the vacuum lines are not attached quite right. I had a similar problem.

my crx was doing this too...when i bought it it ran rich and i could never figure out why...i was getting no codes at all...i was getting like 70 miles to the tanks it was crazy....i swapped a b16 in and started it up...it was doing the same ****...i finally figured out it was a leaking vacuum hose attached to the MAP i believe....so all i had to do was cut the cracked part out of the hose and put it back on..and it ran perfect...so make sure to check all your vacuum hoses to make sure they arent leaking..it can make a huge difference

Make sure your MAP is getting good signal. It is VERY important for drivablity.

just advance your timing to compensate with the rich mixture and if yuo have a fpr adjstable just lower it down.

check the 3 pin map plug to see if there is a separate one that is not part of the engine harness (similar to 93 del sol).
