Default Block rebuild

Hey guys I'm in the process of rebuilding my 96 spec type r block. My piston rings took a **** on my so I'm planning on doing a rebuild. Now I have heard from a lot people that its not enough to just get new rings, also new seals, bearings, gasket and the usual water pump, belt, and tensioner. I don't have a problem with all that but my main concern is if go that route note that I'm still in the planning process how would I go about choosing my bearings. I know there's a color chart but how I know which ones are the ones I need. I wanna keep the engine close to stuck nothing to crazy. One thing I am considering is getting some oversize piston, would that effect anything? I'm looking for some good advice and guidance. Thanks again.

Aren't the codes stamped on the inside of the tranny side and on the rods themselves?
