Default Bigger inlet/outlet muffler to remove/decrease raspiness

I have DC headers on a 2.25 straight pipe all the way to a 2.25 inlet/outlet center/center Magnaflow oval muffler. My question is:

If I were to get a 2.5 inlet/outlet muffler, would it be louder or quieter? would the raspiness be louder or quieter? deeper or more high pitched? Any advice on how to get rid of the raspiness besides a resonator or cat? Thanks in ADVANCED!

Just out out of curiosity why dont you want a resonator? This will more than likely give you the sound you are looking for while not taking away any power.

i agree, i too used to have a straight pipe and just couldnt take that horrible raspy sound. I had a nice resonator put in ($50 installed) and it sounds great. I'm really happy with it and i felt no noticeable decrease in power

To answer your question the larger inlet outlet will just make the raspiness louder. Take the advice add a resonator into the mid pipe. You will be amazed by the mellowing of the tone and no! I repeat no loss of power. Some people use just a glasspack straight thru muffler similar to "cherry bomb". Loud does not equal fast! It just grabs the attention of your local law enforcement officials which is never good. Sleepers Rule!!!
