Default alternator dies, battery dies, burnt electrical smell in underhood fuse box

Ok so this is the second time this happened in about 4 months and the first time I had to replace the alternator and battery. Im driving in my 95 civic and my stereo starts cutting out, speedometer and tach go out, soon my headlights go out and im screwed. I pop the hood and check my wires and they all look good but i pop open the underhood fuse box and I smell burnt electrical. I checked all the fuses and they all look good. Checked voltage at my battery and it is not receiving a charge. What could be the problem? Maybe a short somewhere?

sounds like the electrical load detector built into the fuse box, something is causing it to short out

Yea its not the alternator. I just got it tested and it passed. How can I test or check the load detector?

Should I just replace the whole fuse box? I took out the fuse box and unplugged the connectors and they were all packed with white lithium grease.. is that ok?

Yes thats normal. Its dielectric grease. Pull another fuse box from the junk yard. The eld is built in.

Ok thanks. I will go get a new fuse box and try it out. Also I checked the connections on the ecu and I see some wires connected to another wire and to another wire. Dont know if someone did that or if its supposed to be that way, but it doesn't look right.
