97 Prelude: Injectors not firing. Experts help please!
So we've got this stockish 97 prelude together. It had a blown head gasket so we replaced that, the water pump, timing belt etc.
Everything seemed fine but spark is intermitant(sp?) and the fuel injectors are not firing. Yes, we've checked EVERY fuse and connection about a million times: three days straight. We've verified continuity between the wires going from the ECU to the injectors. We've got spark "some" of the time. We've check the dizzy many times. The Main relay clicks and primes the fuel pump for 2 seconds; then turns off as it should (my understanding anyways).
The grounds for the PGMfi by the water outlet are grounded to a small bolt there. The main power/grounds off the battery are attatched and tightened. The ECU is not grounding the injectors circuits while cranking, preventing it from starting, and the fuel pump doesn't stay on during cranking either!
Help!
Thanks so much for any advice!
Ian

Yes, checked all connections. ECU was working fine before the engine swap. I was actually running an AEM ECU, but since that wouldn't even make the plugs spark, I swapped it out for the known good stock ECU. The stock ECU does make the plugs spark, but the engine absolutely will not start. It'll *almost* start for about a second, then it'll die. Because it seemed as if it wasn't getting any fuel, I plugged a wideband into the secondary O2 sensor port and, while cranking, it read full lean. Because that told me that fuel wasn't making it into the engine, I then took the fuel rail off...good pressure up to the injectors. (gas squirted all over, going to do a fuel pressure check tonight) I then cycled the engine over with the injectors removed from the engine but still plugged into the fuel rail but no fuel squirted out. All the injector connectors are connected properly, so what else could it be?? I'm pretty sure the chance of ALL the injectors failing at once are pretty slim so that tells me it's gotta be some kind of relay or fuse not making the injectors pulse? What drives the injectors/makes them fire? Is there a way to test them? I'm using the stock OBD2 high impedence peak and hold injectors. What about a FPR...do they go bad? I've never been more stumped over a problem than this one here...

Sorry man but I was addressing mister Ian. If you post the information about your problem in a separate thread, I'm sure you'll get some good replies. Be sure to make a title that says as much about the problem as possible.

find a buddy with a another h22, and try his dizzy and ecu on your car. did it on mine and it resolved the problem fast compared to the way your going about it.
also you could have installed peak and hold injectors which need resistor boxes or vise versa with saturated.

Re: 97 Prelude: Injectors not firing. Experts help please!
anyway, carvers that's a good idea but I don't know anyone with a prelude.
I'm sure I installed OBD2 high impedance saturated injectors (tried installing an obd1 injector plug onto one just to be sure, and it didn't fit)
basically, i have to figure out why in the world the injectors are not spraying. So far I've come to the conclusion it's got to either be
FPR
Fuel Filter
Low fuel pressure (due to one of the above, or a bad fuel pump)
Main relay
MAYBE a CPS/TDC sensor (although I'm not getting any CEL)

no one runs h series out in AR?
but for the injector clip, there is a little tab on either the injector or the clip that you cut off with a razor and they will fit.
tap the relay while you try starting it.
fuel filter needs to be changed anyways probably

So what ended up being the issue was the main wiring harness connector. The pin that supplied the power to the injectors was missing out of the harness and was not getting proper power to the injectors. It was the needle in the haystack. Trace your wires and make sure the pins are making contact. Before I found it I would have assumed rolling the vehicle over a cliff!

am having the same problem, i get spark, fuel in the rail and none in the combustion chamber, spark plugs are dry, motor was recently rebuild, everything was working before i took it apart.

Really look into the injector power. At the main wiring harness you've really got to look at those pins... both sides of that connection.
