94 integra starter issues
ok guys I have a 94 integra hatchback and I am having troubles with it starting reliably, what I mean is sometimes the starter will hit and fire without a problem but sometimes all it does is make a thud and click. the car has a push button start bc the factory ignition wasn't working when I bought the shell and installed the engine( built bottom end lsvtec) the car has cranked fine for the first 6500 miles since the install. ive done some diag and so far have swapped the starter for one off a cable B series I had laying around. after I changed the starter it cranked fine the first 2 times but I went to crank it for work this morning and nothing but a thud. the car battery is no where near dead or weak, I even beefed up the signal wire from my push button to the starter and it didn't change anything. its a hit or miss problem bc sometimes it starts perfect and sometimes nothing at all. I figure it must have a short of some kind somewhere but I don't know where to start looking. its got me stumped bc it has ran flawlessly for 6500 miles and I haven't made any changes to the starting set up until this past sunday when I beefed up the signal wire ,which didn't help and then I changed the starter the next day to have the same issues.
any ideas would be much appreciated

Check the voltage coming from the signal wire when someone else is trying to start it .... Also check the power wire as contact at the starter ... And then check the connection at the fuse box / battery to the starter and all grounds that apply to them ... Also make sure the starter is fully seated against the trans and that the trans is grounded
