3M vs Welding
Has anyone ever pondered the idea of not welding in rear quarter patch panels? I for one have very little skills in the welding dept and i have been researching some 3M 2 part panel bonding products. they haved a coating to prevent rust and they are dry in about 30 min. just make the flanged edge and put some 2 part on and clamp, sounds easy enough! but does anyone know if this stuff will actually hold up like it says? will it withstand rolling the rears? any input/info would be greatly appreciated.

I think If I am not mistaken, there are auto manufacturers that are doing bonded panels. As far as the ability to withstand being rolled for clearance, there are too many variables to take into consideration to give you an answer. But in all honesty, if you have to question structural integrity for some stupid fanboy fad, then dont even worry about it. just do it and let the rest of us know how it worked out so we dont make that same mistake.

Re: 3M vs Welding
On my integra it had some typical rust around the rear wheel well. Got a quarter from the local junk yard and my body man cut what he needed for the repair and used the 3m panel bond. he then used screws to act as a clamp then removed screws and tacked the holes. Its been over a year and still no signs of a repair. As far as rolling the quarters it will be fine.

if you are replacing your panel because of rust, be prepared for the other panels around that are to also be rusty. And when that happens you will have to repair those areas by shaping and welding in new metal.
