Default 1999 Acura CL F23A1 timing belt

First off -I'm an old diy'er currently driving a 1964 Corvette and 1931 Ford 5 window coupe street rod. Although the wife and I do also have a 2004 S2000 with only 22K miles on it -

nice car, all black. So, 3 cars and 6 seats total. Looking at a 1999 Acura CL to buy. Have no clue about this new fangled technology. I've read the excellent F22B1 timing belt writeup in the Honda-Acura specific forums. The author mentions the F23A1 will be slightly different. I can't find any good information on the F23A1 anywhere, like I can on the B-series engines. Since I have no experience with Honda engines I'd sure like to be as well prepared as possible before buying this vehicle that I know will need a timing belt/water pump/etc. replacement. Is the dealership type Acura Service Manual what I need to have ($95)? or can you all point me in the right direction.

I found a site selling a downloadable timing belt instruction for 1990-2002 Acura engine but don't know if it's for the 2.3L F23A1 or not.

Also, I notice there is no Acura CL category in the Honda-Acura specific forums - which one of the listed ones should I be looking at 'cause I know I'll be back here many times if I buy this car.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

its a fairly simple process on that motor. Make sure everything is lined to TDC on cylinder one. Remove the timing covers and check that all your marks on the cam gear, crankshaft pulley and balancer shafts are lined up with the notches before removing the belts. The factory manual should give you diagrams of everything you need to know. There is a plug in the back of the block, i believe a 12mm that you need to remove. When all the timing marks are lined up, you are supposed to install a 6x100mm bolt into where that plug came out, it wont thread in, it goes into a machine hole in the balancer shaft to keep it from moving from TDC. I typically just use a punch that size because not a lot of stores stock a 6x100mm bolt, usually stop around 70 or 80mm. But like i said, the factory manual should give you all the info you need. I can post the process off alldata, but i cant post the pictures and diagrams. Buy the complete timing component kit, it should come with the belts, the tensioner and the pulley for the balancer belt.
