Just wanted you to know that I found your guide helpful. Getting to skip past all the guess work about how to get at the ignition switch (and being confident that was the problem in the first place) saved me a bunch of time.

Thank you!

I have no idea how to thank OP for this guide other than saying THANK YOU. I've been going through this EXACT same issue for months and no one had been able to fix it. I've been to three mechanics and none got the problem fixed. I've had the fuel pump relay replaced and the distributor along with multiple guesses as to what the exact problem is, but no one has a clue. I got so frustrated at so much wasted time and money that I decided to start looking this up myself and I cane across this forum and guide. What a great write-up!! I can't even begin to thank you enough for it. I did the work myself which took me a few hours but I felt so proud after it was done and no longer giving me problems. Than you, Sir!!

Ya know, I have no idea... I've pushed it a couple of times before, and nothing happened... And I didn't bother to investigate it when I was replacing the ignition switch.

Sorry! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hello, I have been having similar problems with my 99 Honda Accord it turns off while I'm driving and won't stay turned on unless I hold the key in the run position for a few minutes. The dealer said it was the ignition switch. I was wondering if I replace the ignition switch do I need to have the keys reprogrammed? Or will they work as is?

As far as I know, the same old key should work fine. I didn't have to reprogram any keys when I replaced the ignition switch on my car, but mine was a '98...
