I have a 1995 honda accord lx with around 195000 miles on it...I was driving the car the other day when all of a sudden the car wouldn't shift into the next gear and the rpm and speedometer gauges went dead. I proceeded to pull over and put the car and park to see if that would help....I turned the car on and tried to pull it out of park and the shifter had locked. I drove the car all the way back home in first gear....I can manually put the car in second on the shift and it works but the car wont go past 2nd gear....I took the car to a garage and they change the solenoids. Still that didn't help. The crazy thing is the car did this about a month ago, for about three days, then it went back to normal and didn't do anything for another month. We got the rpm gauge working but the speedometer is still out. I am hoping this isn't the end of my transmission and hopefully a sensor or something electrical....Has anyone ever had this happen....Please help!

I have a 1995 Accord LX with 305,000 miles on it and my automatic transmission has been acting up as well. I just had the transmission fluid checked and the mechanic said the level was good and it was clear. My first symptoms were the engine revving and the transmission not shifting when it was supposed to. Now it doesn't want to shift out of second gear. With the age of the car and the mileage, I don't see any scenario where fixing the car would make financial sense. If anyone does have good news, please let me know! Otherwise, the care is in good shape. I bought it brand new back in 1995.
