Post What & How to check rear suspension after side swipe?

My 92 prelude left rear wheel is pointed inward in the front of this wheel ( i think this is called toe in ) . Also this wheel is tilted inward at the bottom after going in a ditch avoiding a deer that was to big to hit head on. Can someone tell me what to measure, and how to measure the suspension parts? If something is bent I want to no before i wast $ getting it aligned. My car has the stock suspension and wheels. Will post pictures a.s.a.p Thanks.

most likely something got bent such as the control arm if you can visibly see something is off. i would jack up the rear and remove both tires look at teh parts and compare each side. Usually the bends are hard to visibly notice with out seeing what things originally looked like

align car, or get it aligned. Firestone sells a lifetime for ~$100. Worth it. Tell tech to let you know what looks bent. After you get an alignment there's a better chance of knowing what to check, but basically your measuring (like bolt-to-bolt) and comparing with the other side.

Ok thanks. I tried to pull measurements for the lower control arms but i didn't take the wheels off and i only backed it up onto my servicing ramps. My jack want rase it high enough to get my jack stands under the car. I'll get it up in the air tomorrow. Wish i would've checked for a reply 5minutes ago. A friend just left with his tall floor jack on his truck. I'll take pics so maybe you or someone can give me your op of the condition the parts look to be in. these are the only ones i took earlier. Thanks again.

when things bend, they get shorter.

neg camber = bent LCA

toe in (? I think) = bent radius rod/toearm/the thing pointing foreward

Been researching DIY alignment. I found one youtube video but i didn't bookmark it, my mistake. If someone can give me some information about this i would be really grateful. I know this is not ideal but right now this is what i have to do. Thanks for the help you guys been giving me. Forums are one of the best resources on the internet.

DIY alignments at home are really hard to do if you dont know exactly what you are doing or have experience with it.

Look at a bunch of videos on youtube but at the very least you will need a perfectly level spot and a decent amount of knowledge about all of the adjustments on the prelude for alignment. Your best bet is to take it somewhere and pay for an alignment. At the very most its like $70 at your Honda dealer for all four wheels.

I got a new tool! Harbor-Freight g-force angle thing, awesome! So I use it on the car too see the angle of the chassis, see how far off the driveway is. Then I use it on the wheels to adjust camber, based off the chassis angle, compared to the last time it went to a real shop. When I am done it gets checked by them, they only set toe, but based off their tests so far, camber checks out.

Good luck getting toe close. you can set it close (~+/-1/4") by using a tape measure, but using it on tires AND way below the point (car is in the way) where you should measure. It works for driving to an alignment place, that's it.
