Default Koni Str.T vs. Progress CS-II

I've been researching suspension options for my 98 Civic Coupe lately and I've narrowed it down to these two. The Koni Str.T with a good spring like H&R or Eibach's. Or Progress Technology's CS-II coilover. It seems I could get the Koni's for about $320 and the springs for around $200 making that total package probably around lets say $500-$550. The Progress Technology CS-II coilover is $579 right now.

Koni: Lifetime warranty and good reviews from almost everyone that has used Koni products.

Progress: $579 shipped for a full coilover. 1yr warranty I believe. $68 for replacement dampers if you ever need them. Interchangeable springs for different spring rates and obviously height adjustable. Another company that also gets good reviews on their products.

I'm torn here and I can't decide. The car is daily driven to work and back 5 days a week. 35miles one way. I am willing to sacrifice a bit of ride quality for handling. I will lower the car no more than 2". The roads here are pretty decent. Car will see some spirited driving. I'm leaning towards the Progress Technology CS-II coilover with 350/250 spring rates. I'm looking for some opinions here from those who have used or are currently using either product.

Thanks

If you aren't planning on going lower than a few inches I suggest the CS-II.

I have the CS-II and the car handles marvelously. I do however wish I'd bought koni/GC because I had the money. But for now the CS-II serves it's purpose and will be a great entry level coilover while I'm new to autocross. The CS-II is a great product.

But if you can be patient, I'd still recommend the Koni yellow + ground control. I'm happy with what I've got, but I can't help but think I'd be happier in the long term with the lifetime warranty and all with the koni. You essentially could have the Koni for the life of your car.

All that said I think the CS-II is the best thing before koni/GC.

One important thing is to consider that if you're planning on doing autocross you're much better off with a coilover. With springs you're more likely to end up with uneven ride height and therefor poorer handling. With a coilover like the CS-II you can make the driver's side 1/4" higher like I did and measure your car at 4 corners with you in the car to get it right.

I say....get the Progress CS-II's. I'm waiting on my set to arrive. You can't beat Progress' R&D of their products.
