intro/ trying to be dumped/ pitchars!!! 56k take a nap
my names chris. im 19 years old, a full time student in college and a full time employee too. im in an automotive program working for my certification in automotive mechanics
now that that is out of the way on to my question. bear with me its long as ****.
-i installed some D2 coilovers on my car(2000 civic EX) a few weeks ago with the intention of dumping the **** out of it. i knew i wouldnt be able to get it as low as i want to on my 16's though. im running on 16x7 40 offset rota slipstreams wrapped in a 205/45/16 nitto neo gen tire. i adjusted the coilovers almost all the way down to get an idea of how low they would go at first, and i was happy with them, but i was rubbing my fenders like a mother ****er, so i raised them back up a little bit. a few days later i went out and had my fenders rolled, and cut my fender liner out, leaving a little piece of it in front of and behind the tire to keep from throwing rocks on my car. that gave me a little more clearance but not as much as i want. i lowered my car a little more that day, to have it tucking about a quarter to half inch of tire. it still rubs on right hand turns so im thinking one side of the car is a little higher than the other. thats no biggy ill get around to adjusting it. i found out that my tires were rubbing the fender liner that was in front of my wheel on the driver side. there was a little bump sticking out of it so i cut that part out of it. i found another bump in the liner but my A/C compressor is behind it so i dont wanna cut it out and i worry about running without the liner and hitting it. (I AM NOT REMOVING MY A/C) i also found out that my tires are rubbing my inner wheel wells. i wanna get rid of the 16's and slap some 15's on it but im trying to decide what size tire to put on it. im guessing a need a 195 instead of the 205 to keep it from rubbing the wheel wells, but i dont know whether to run a 45 or a 50 aspect ratio. a 205/45/16 and a 195/50/15 are essentially almost the same height if stood beside each other so im kinda leaning away from the 50. also if i get a 50 wont it still rub the bump in the fender liner covering the A/C compressor when i turn being that the tire is the same height. i really need some help with this because its bugging the **** out of me. ive got 2 friends on D2's. one on an 04 TL and the other on an 05 civic DX. their cars are lower than mine at the moment and are still functional in turns without rubbing. if anyone has any ideas to keep my stoopid car from rubbing please let me know.....now on to a few pictures from the other night with me and some friends

Nice car man, it looks great the way it is!
Try asking the guys in the slammed thread, esp 2ToneEM1, as he is running a dumped EK on 16s

Um 2tonem1 runs 15's, so that wont help you lol. Either run a 205/40 like R-Lug stated, or even a 195/45 would be pretty nice. and dont worry about the a/c thing, you wont hit it. plenty of coupes are lower than you and dont have any problems.

They look a little big for 15s but it could be the dumpness that is distorting my judgement...
Regardless, someone as dumped as him can help the OP out

i seen 2tonm1 at importalliance last year. thats how low i wanna be, but i dont feel like cutting my holes in my strut tower to keep my control arms from bottoming out. i think that was what he had done

If you run stock control arms, you can be seriously dumped without needing to cut shock towers.
My SPC UCAs hit. My shock towers are dented. I was 1" lower with stock UCAs and never hit them.

Increasing your spring rates will allow you to run lower without needing new rims, tires, modifications. I have run 17s on my coupe had some initial problems with the standard type flex rates, purchased slightly stiffer springs and right preload adjustment no more problem, but it definately got rougher. UCA's, if you are going to dump your car adjustable UCA's are a must if you don't want to buy tires every 1000 miles. Look into Skunk 2 pro series, Silk Roads (very nice!) or I believe AJ's has some but are costly.
Also if you are rubbing on one side and not the other you maybe level but because of the weight placement of the car during the turns one side may load more and cause unequal travel. This can be fixed with a proper corner balance and preload adjustment.

You can't run dumped with adjustable UCA's. Adjustable UCA's are also not a "must" to prevent accelerated tire wear. A 4-wheel alignment to correct toe will prevent most abnormal tire wear problems, even with lots of negative camber.

Re: intro/ trying to be dumped/ pitchars!!! 56k take a nap
You are right, you can't take car of the tow with out adjustable CAMBER. however that was a side, and a majority of tire wear cause by lowered cars is from negative camber. If you know a way to correct camber on a civic other then what could be considered a camber kit by al means let us know. Also if you do your research you will find uca's that will give you chasis clearence, silk road, aj's for starters. I know I have.
I have run anywhere from -1.5 to -2.8 negative camber for the past SEVEN YEARS without any sort of camber correction, and I have never had any significant abnormal tire wear.
TunerN00b on here runs something like -4 camber up front for the past 2 years without tire wear problems.
Any I wouldn't exactly refer to reducing negative camber as "correcting" it. When you reduce negative camber, you reduce the car's handling abilities. You're already reducing handling abilities by "slamming" the car, why make it worse by reducing negative camber, and almost certainly run into tire rubbing problems and/or UCA clearance problems at the same time?
Please get your facts correct in order to prevent further wrong info.

D2's coilovers
they were made for an 03-06 accord but they bolt right up to the TL. all he had to do was drill one small hole in the strut tower for a bolt to come through.
that was it dropped all the way though. he doesnt drive it that way, it was squirly as **** all over the road.
heres a closer shot to show how low it was with no preload and all the way down
heres how he drives it daily

The rear bumper is a noticeable shade darker than the rear quarter panels on that TL. And no it's not "just the angle of the picture" because it's readily apparent in both pics on both sides of the car, and the side of the bumper isn't at a different angle or anything from the quarter panel, so it's not the light. The quarter panels flow smoothly and make a clean transition to the rear bumper, so both parts should be the exact same color if properly color matched.

The OD of a 205/45/16 is 23.2" and the OD of a 205/40/16 is 22.5". I would use the 205/40/16 if your trying to be dumped.
