Default Ground control top hat problem

has this happened to anyone else? i went to install my suspension (ground controls and konis) and when i was bolting the top hat on, one of the bolts that are pressed into the top hat came loose, and now it spins freely and i can't get the bolt to tighten. does anyone know if their lifetime warranty includes their top hats?

Which bolt? I had no problems with mine, but if it is broken, GC should replace it.

I imagine he's refering to one of the two pressed-in mounting studs that attaches the entire shock assebly to the chassis. If one of those came loose, you should definently contact GC right away. To get it off, you may have to cut through the stud, or drill it out.

I guess the easiest thing would be to take a dremel & cut a screwdriver slot in the top of the stud. Then hold the stud steady with a flathead screwdriver while you turn the nut off with a wrench.

I had the exact same problem.

Simple solution for me was to install the entire shock, spring, tophat assembly into the car without the nuts that mount the tophats to the inner fender, and drop the car onto the wheels. The pressure from the springs were enough to keep the bolts from turning as I torqued the nuts down.
