its a means to regain some lost shock travel so you dont bottom out on your bumpstops sooner.

basically its sliding the shock further down the shock fork. it differs by the shock. its easiest on konis since they dont have a welded brake collar. just open the shock fork and push it through. you can only go so far before you risk the axle hitting the bottom of the shock. for other shocks like tokico illuminas, you have to cut the welded brake collar off with a high speed cutting wheel. you can ignore the divot, either make a new one or just thread the bolt thru.

Thats cool because I have eibach sportlines on OEM shocks, but I think the front sits too high. Would you recommend doing this on a OEM shock???

Is this the same for all hondas. I drive a 98 accord coupe. And I want to lower my car a little bit more. Im debating between cutting the Tein S. Techs or getting new springs.

Is it possible to do the fork trick to the rear also. thanks.

you can do it to the oem shock. you just take the shock off and hammer that black bracket off the shocks.

but you will lose that bracket that holds the brake line on. so you will have to zip tie it back on to the shock.

their shocks has the smaller ring on them you can take it off but you dont gain as much as the eg ones. but its still something.

The "fork trick" sucks. I did it and it made it very difficult to easily remove and install the shock/spring assembly. The outer diameter of my Koni shocks were just slightly larger where the brake bracket goes (compared to where the fork is supposed to go) and that was enough to make them super tight when pushed all the way down into the fork.

I ended up getting the Ground Control top hats. They're not expensive, they allowed me to keep the brake bracket and I can easily swap the shock/spring assembly in and out.

Don't the Tein S. Techs have dead springs?

I just did this yesterday on my DA with Skunk2s and Tokico Illuminas and the car rides 10 times better. I still need to extend the top hats front and rear and Ill be set.

Also with my combo, removing and installing the struts wont be any different than usual, everything fits together so tight that it stays assembled when removing it. Minor tweaking maybe, but nothing major.

I used 1.75OD .095 wall tubing and it fit perfectly over the 1.5OD shock body.

should only be used with slip on coilovers like ground control.

regular springs dont have any extra shock travel past full extension for these to fit.

Ive heard they only fit GCs so if you're car is low and needs more travel you can make some or have someone make them for you.

I have Skunk2s and Tokico Illuminas and I'm making some today to get some more travel.
