He said Koni for the shocks and the Koni specific Ground Control coilovers. Pick your spring rates or get the OTS ones.

what if i would want my car " dumped "...

meaning probably alot lower than you are running at the moment with your progress cs - II
, which coils would you prefer?... i have a 99 civic dx, im looking to get the 16" rims, with low profile tires... and make it maybe 5- fingers off the ground, to point where i must avoid almost all speed bumps... would cs - II still be a good choice?

Cs-IIs are more of a competition use coilover. For autocross.

Uh, no. You can use them for Autocross, I guess like anything else, but this not meant strictly competition use. Go to the Progress website and read up. As a matter of fact ALL of you having difficulty making a choice should go to the manufacturers website and read up. If you have questions after that then call up and speak to a rep. Whatever the choice you make.

I think we've given you enough information to put you in the right direction but ultimately the decision is yours and the money if definitely yours. Spring rates, as they relate to comfort and ride quality are totally subjective.

They're most definitely not for "slamming" your car.

You probably could but that's not what they are recommended for. Some guy posted this exact same thing. Bought them because he didn't do his research and thought that since they were good he could slam his car but didn't understand squat about spring rates. But with the soft springs rates that was not the case and he was not happy.

KW is a quality product, but can you tell me who makes their shocks?

What spring rates are TOO stiff for the road? I want to take the car to the drag strip, and want stiffer suspension but if I go around a corner at a decent speed I don't want the *** end to step out on me or bounce off the ground. Or whatever crazy **** would happen. I'm not worried about the stiff feeling driving, or noise or anything. Just worried about if I hit a pot hole and start losing control, or doing the same in a hard turn.

Any advice? I'm sure 18kg and 12kg wouldn't be fun on the street. 12kF and 10KR?

I think I'm going to go with the GC/K set up but I'm not sure what spring rates to get :/

Thanks.

Everything is done in house at their Fichtenberg facility.

Spring rates are relative to the motion ratios of each independent model. What car do you have? 18kg and 12kg is very stiff on most cars. My friend has an EP3 and his front springs are 18kg and it feels alright, its not uncomfortable. The car is not bouncy or anything, it depends more on the shocks. On an EG however for example it would be very very stiff.

You can call Ground Control and they will help you pick rates based on your needs. Just remember that if you go with stiff rates that you make sure your bushings and other suspension components are in good order

2000 Civic Si. I plan on upgrading all the bushings when I decide on which kit I want to go with.

I'm not worried about ride "quality" I'm worried about the *** end bouncing a wheel from not dodging a pothole and losing control or some crazy ****. Vibration and all that I'm not worried about in the least.

That wouldn't be likely to happen unless you had a really stiff swaybar in the rear or stiffer rear springs than the front. Its really up to what you want to do to the car. Track only? Street and occasional track? Etc. I'm on 10k/6k and its a stiff setup that can handle well and is streetable. Sounds to me you would be looking for something in the 12/14k front and 8/10k rear range. Call up GC, they will help!

higher quality product the first time is a lot better than trying to cut corners to do more to your car sooner.

I'll be looking for something to add traction to a sleeved lsv 6262. lol. Breaking it in now, and trying to figure out what all I can do to aid traction on the street and strip. Slicks I know on track, and DR's on street. But other than those.

So libertariat, your saying gr2's are decent? Problem i have is i have a da integra and there isnt many options for less expensive shocks. So far all i found was gr2's, tokico hp's, or skunk 2. Im using h&r sport springs so 1.8" drop. What would be your suggestion?

I'm saying they are probably better than nothing. They are OE replacement shocks and have a better reputation than tokico HPs. With the sport springs I would get Koni yellows or Tokico illuminas.

thanks. I was actually looking at the illumina's as a step up choice. Heard the s2's were quite bouncy even though they claim their built for lowering springs. So that left me with gr2's or tokico hp's. Thanks for the info!

Tunersports.com has the Koni Str.t shocks on sale. I know for my DC2 the price with the NewYearSavings code was $280 shipped, that's the lowest I've found them anywhere. Way better choice than Tokico Blues for a DD.
