Re: Best strut/spring combo for smoothest ride
you made a solid choice my friend. eibach dampers (i believe) are made by sachs, and sachs makes very solid stuff.
as the hawaiian said, you will find that the dampers are valved perfectly for the pro-kit. now, keep in mind pro-kits are engineered around new OE dampers, so i can't speak on the total valving difference between OE dampers and the eibach units, but i'm sure it's dialed ; )
feedback welcomed.

The "I have owned a set theory"
You should have dyno'ed those shocks after those years of use. Blues don't work well with anything more than stock springs. When they do blow with any type of drop springs go ahead and try to collect on that limited lifetime warranty.

your theory is pointless based on your personal experience only...i have owned 3 sets of blues including my current set up and they ride fine on drop springs...keep in mind that i didn't say slammed but have a conservative 2.5F and 2.25R drop...looks like they must not of been a good candidate for your daily driving habits on that hawaiian lava rock but they sure ride smooth on these california potholes

Okay guys, point or pointless...yada yada, just relax the ole's e-boners...this thread has some potential. I personally have used Illuminas and Blues, but have not recorded significant mileage on either set so can say how well they have worked, yet.
STOCK_SOHC_DX -> are Illuminas, in your experience, a worthwhile step up from the Blues? I will be pairing whatever dampers I get with H&R springs..about 1.3" drop...so I am concerned relative to these springs. If the Blues will work fine with the H&R springs, then I prefer to spend less. The Civic is my DD of sorts, not intended for 'hard driving'.
BiG ChOr!Zo -> any positive input on what dampers to pair up with my H&R springy springs?
Anyone, Bueller...? Thanks for the input.

"feel" is subjective. whats better, or "enough" is almost just as subjective.
but do a search and youll see all the times ppl say "my blues are blown". or something like that.
get illuminas. anyone who stands by blues either just got lucky or doesnt care that much or know the difference of what a good ride should be. everyone can have an opinion, not every opinion is right however. feel free to even disagree with me. i know im right. lol.

illuminas are def quality.
i used illuminas in 1997-98 and then ran them again from like 2002-2007, no issues.
however, for anything more than say, the eibach pro-kit, i prefer dampers that are short case so you have full travel even with the damper being essentially "pre-compressed" by a lowering spring. but yeah, illuminas would be just fine for a pro-kit.

I just installed my Eibach Pro Kit with the Pro Dampers. Feels almost like stock on the freeway but feels kind of firm. Didn't push it on turns because it's raining so I can't tell you how it does there.

Re: Best strut/spring combo for smoothest ride
also, let me input on my illumina experience. I have old progress springs which are a 2.2in drop for me and 320/240 spring rate combo. I had the illuminas on 1 and they were very bouncy. Put it on 3 and it was a nearly perfectly smooth ride. YOu just feel every bump in the road now but if the Blues compare to Illuminas like the Koni STR.T does to yellows than BLues are the 1st setting on illuminas so take the extra step and get illuminas. It'll be worth it

Re: Best strut/spring combo for smoothest ride
Very interested in the "Eibach Pro-system" but, .... what is the part #? I searched the Eibach site and can find no listing for 88-91 Civic/Crx Pro System. Checked Tire Rack, Discount Tire, Google and even Ebay and came up empty.

Eibach pro kit and Tokico blues are great for DD but it gets a little bouncy for rear passengers, but it might be cause of the horrible streets here in Chicago lol

Re: Best strut/spring combo for smoothest ride
So i got a set of eibach pro dampers and was thinking about going with skunk2 springs, now how do you guys think about that?
Or should I just stick with eibach springs?

Re: Best strut/spring combo for smoothest ride
I remember reading some where that the skunk2 spring rates and alot higher then the eibach. And also that the eibach shocks and meant for their springs.
