Aluminum upper control arms by SPC
Thinking about trying these out...
http://www.iapdirect.com/product.php...cat=355&page=1
They seem pretty nice, but looks can be deceiving..Anyone got any experience with these?
I think SPC is pretty decent as far as quality goes, but what about these particular ALUMINUM arms?
Feedback please...Thanks in advance!

Re: Aluminum upper control arms by SPC
Had a set on my Integra. Car is used for daily / auto-x / HPDE.
Same clearance issue as all camber adjusting UCAs have on our cars, which is why I eventually removed them.
The piece itself is very stout. After repeatedly slamming the UCAs into the shock towers, I have dented shock towers and bent knuckles, but the UCAs and balljoints took it like a champ.
Never slipped from their setting on me, but do follow the instructions and torque the nut correctly (120 ft-lbs if memory serves).
Do read the sticky on camber kits though.

Friends bro in law had them on his integra, they always hit his shock towers, but seem to be holding up fine.
I guess he bought oem ones and threw these out though.
He actually put a hole in his pass side shock tower with them.

Wow... Thanks for the input guys. Sound like some pretty sturdy pieces. Ill do some more reading up on them. So is there still no perfect solution yet huh?
My current ones are bashed all to hell and i was looking at these and the hardrace/megan ones...But im kinda iffy on those...

My past experiences have me shy away from the Hardrace ones. Although I like most of their products, the balljoint boots ripped in just a couple of months of occasional driving. I replaced them with stock UCAs with hard rubber bushings and am much happier.

Thanks...Im gonna keep searching...
Seems like most people in here like the stock UCA's. I dont know what my camber looks like, but i might throw the stock ones on, check the alignment and decide then. Thanks everyone for your advice!

Perfect solution to what problem?
If you want more negative camber, bend the knuckles.
If you want less, raise the car back up to a reasonable height, or bend the knuckles.
And, there is always fabricating a custom knuckle and/or UCA.
If the car is a pure street car, there isn't a problem to solve with regards camber. Lower it, align the toe, ignore the camber, and enjoy.
If it is a race car, options exist, depending on the rule set.

SPC claims these arms are lighter than the stamped steel factory ones. Does anyone know what the weight difference is between the two?

Now, most camber kit UCAs are significantly heavier than stock, so take that for what it's worth.

Well when they make them to order - to your specifications, then they are pretty 'custom' imo.

Re: Aluminum upper control arms by SPC
I did happen to weigh these against the stock arms, and although I believe that I left the two top nuts off the stock arms during weighing, the SPC arms are actually heavier by a good amount. The stock arms are in the 3.4lb range if I remember right (sorry it's been awhile) and the SPC arms are low 4's. I don't think two nuts made the difference, but if anyone wants the EXACT weights, I can re-weight them for you. They advertise as being lighter than stock. As to the issue of upper arm to body interference, it sounds like the answer is better material or longer (or both) bump stops. That should keep you out of trouble. by limiting your suspension travel in the upward direction.
